Designated Downtown

Brandon’s Designated Downtown

Vermont’s downtowns and villages have served as the social and economic centers of our communities for generations.  Downtowns are areas of intensive capital investment, both public and private, in buildings, water and sewage systems, streets, sidewalks, and parks providing a sense of place, community and connectedness to the land.  It is smart policy for town governments to do all they can to protect the historic investment a downtown represent.

We are fortunate in Brandon to have a wealth of historic buildings in our downtown, built with a quality of construction, craft and style that make our town center an attractive place to live, work and visit.

Brandon’s “Designated Downtown organization,” a private, non-profit 501c3 organization, is called 24 Center Street, Inc. DBA “Downtown Brandon Alliance.”  Being a Designated Downtown in the State of Vermont provides a host of advantages that residents, property owners and the Town of Brandon are able to tap into to improve many aspects of the town.  Speak to the Office of Economic Development to learn more about the opportunities that this designation provides. The Downtown Brandon Alliance meets the second Thursday of the month (and the fourth Thursday, if needed) at 9:00 AM at the Brandon Free Public Library in the second-floor meeting room.
